Does Lowering LDL Help?

Written by cholesterolfacts.org

Those who have to deal with high levels of LDL cholesterol have to worry about preventing and/or treating atherosclerosis. Many doctors try to lower the amount of LDL in order to help speed it along - but many wonder if this truly helps.

While lowering the levels of LDL in the bloodstream can help there are still many other treatments that people must undergo. It has been proven that those who have low and mild levels of LDL can still develop the atherosclerosis disease and are vulnerable to heart attacks because of habits that they practice like smoking, high blood pressure, and diabetes mellitus.

Doctors encourage a healthy diet, and cholesterol medication to help lower LDL levels and agree that it is an important step towards a healthy body - but admit that these steps may not always be effective because of other factors.
